PR; Public Relations or Personal Relationship?
I have been in the marketing/PR game for a long while now. And actually during the last couple of years both I and the market has changed…
Is there anybody that wants to have a public relation these days?
Possibly - I mean isn’t it “old-media-conglomerate-talk” to have a public relation? A relation to the public. In my ears it’s as inefficient as every other marketing scattergun technique.
I think Public Relations are still functional - BUT - you would have to nurture it with a Personal Relationship as well. So one abbreviation: PR - two very different kinds of meaning.. Maybe we should call it PuR and PeR instead =)
Agree completely, Henriette. “Public relations” works under the assumption that your relations with the public at large is a thing you can define and even control. BS, if you ask me. Everything is in what the individual thinks of you, your product and your brand - and there are ways to influence that, which is essentially marketing.
